Life Skills and Functional Fitness

Building independence through movement

Sessions for all ages and abilities.

Movement is about so much more than physical fitness — it's the foundation for independence, confidence and daily life.

Fitness isn't just about how you look or how fast you can run. For many people, it's about being able to do the things that matter — getting dressed independently, travelling on public transport, cooking a meal, going for a walk with friends or simply feeling safe and confident in your own body. Our Life Skills and Functional Fitness sessions are designed to help you or you child develop essential skills - from balance, coordination and fine or gross motor control to working memory, problem-solving and self-regulation.

If you want to see real-world progress — not just in the gym, but in everyday life — we'd love to hear from you.

What We Work On

No two clients are the same so no two programmes are identical. Depending on your goals and needs, sessions may focus on any combination of the following:

  • Gross and fine motor skills — developing coordination, strength and controlled movement

  • Balance and spatial awareness — building confidence in how the body moves through space

  • Sequencing and working memory — following multi-step instructions and building cognitive stamina

  • Focus and self-regulation — using movement to support emotional regulation and attention

  • Social skills and turn-taking — developing communication and cooperation through structured activity

  • Independence in daily tasks — practising the physical skills that underpin everyday life

  • Sensory awareness - including interoception (awareness of your internal body state)

Who Is This For?

Our Life Skills & Functional Fitness sessions are for children, young people and adults who want to build the physical foundations for a more independent life. Our clients include:

  • Children and young people with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD and developmental delays

  • Adults with learning disabilities or physical additional needs who want to build strength and independence

  • Families who want structured, specialist support between therapy appointments or school interventions

  • Anyone who has found traditional fitness settings inaccessible, overwhelming or ineffective

If someone in your life — or you yourself — would benefit from building key skills, physical confidence and independence through movement, we'd love to hear from you.
